Funari is a mountainous area northeast of Elbasan, known for its four lakes surrounded by pine and oak forests. The trails crossing this area offer good opportunities for hiking and nature exploration, leading to some of the region's natural landmarks such as the Death Cave, Hasmi Cave, St. Mary's Castle, and Letani Rock. Nearby, the traces of the Letani Industrial Cableway can still be seen — a former structure used to transport limestone rocks. On warm days, the lakes become popular spots for activities like canoeing and swimming, while the surrounding areas are used for picnics and outdoor relaxation. On one of the hills is located the largest parachuting runway in Albania, making Funari an attractive destination both for those seeking tranquility in nature and adventure tourism enthusiasts.
